Ep. 99 — HALLOWEEN 4 (1988) & HALLOWEEN 5 (1989) with Myles Griffin & John-Paul Newton
This week, our HALLOWEEN series continues with a look at the next two films in the Michael Myers' saga, HALLOWEEN 4: THE RETURN OF MICHAEL MYERS and HALLOWEEN 5: THE REVENGE OF MICHAEL MYERS!*
HALLOWEEN 4 is often cited by HALLOWEEN fans as one of the better sequels in the series, while its follow-up — released less than a year later — is regularly called the turning point where the series truly goes off the rail, with its infamous introduction of the mysterious Man In Black and the unresolved Thorn storyline. How do the films hold up three decades later?
We'll discuss the decisions that led to their creation and how the disappointment of HALLOWEEN III led to producer Moustapha Akkad resurrecting The Shape, Michael Myers.
*Wondering about HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH? We discussed that in our 2017 Halloween series! You can check out that episode here.
